Why We Do It

Farms

Agrium is driven to make an increasingly positive impact on stakeholders while helping to feed the world responsibly. The need to monitor food quantity is real. Our world population has doubled in 40 years from 1968 (3.55 billion) to 2010 (6.9 billion). Population estimates project we will be a little over 8 billion people by 2025. This puts enormous pressure on producers to grow more using the same amount of land, or increase the size of their farms to accommodate demand.

Fertilizer Sustains World Food and Energy Demands

Experts estimate that commercial fertilizer is responsible for the basic food needs of 40 to 60 percent of the world’s population. Fertilizer helps growers meet production demands without increasing the amount of land they are using for farming. Additionally, their consistent quality, uniform size and predictable release allows growers to manage nutrients more sustainably.

Agrium is Growing the Next Generation

Our experience with plants, crop nutrients and soil fertility gives us knowledge to share with youth, educators and organizations in the agricultural community. Agrium provides hands-on learning tools through interactive exhibits, industry partnerships and websites to help the next generation learn about the vital role that nutrients play in our food production.
